We took a different trail on the way down, along the other side of Long Lake. Here we were in for two surprises. First, there were much fewer people on this side; we met only a few fellow hikers. Even better, we found several meadows loaded down with flowers. Just when we figured we'd come across a meadow saturated to the brim with flowers, we'd walk around a bend and find another even more packed.
