An Intro To Australia
November 16 - December 8, 2009

Our three weeks in Australia were a highlight of the entire trip. There is no place on Earth like Oz. We rented a car, and spent a few days visiting friends we'd met in Spain in Melbourne. Then we set out south to the Great Ocean Road for several days of camping near Apollo Bay. From there, we took our time following the coast up from Melbourne towards Sydney, stopping all along at national parks. Most notable was Oz's most famous park, Wilson's Promontory, but we stopped in several other parks and small towns. We camped 19 out of the 21 nights we had in Oz, even camping in Sydney for the one night we were there. Camping is the best way to meet Oz's wildlife, which was a huge part of our experience, and we could not have done the trip without the little Hyundai Getz we rented. We had a really great time, and we are definitely going back, this time to see what is north of Sydney, not to mention west into the Outback.
