Peru: The Last Stop
Feburary 23 - March 6, 2010
Our last country was Peru. We came from Copacabana, Bolivia, into Puno, and made our way up to Cusco. This was quite an interesting city, even though floods had shut down the main attraction, Machu Picchu. We spent several days exploring the narrow, winding streets there before heading down to Arequipa, which supposedly boasts two of the world's deepest canyons nearby. It was a pleasant city at any rate, and we took a one-day canyon tour as well. Finally, we arrived in Lima, the mack-daddy of dodgy South American capitals. By this point we felt very comfortable in most environments, which allowed us to freely explore this very busy, interesting metropolis. It was a fitting end to a fantastic, six month trip. Until next time, be safe.
