Delving Into Poland's Past
September 26 - October 3, 2009

We went to Poland on a whim, based on the fact our favorite restaurant in Tucson is Polish, and we enjoyed talking with the owner. We promised to find his other restaurant in Warsaw, which we did, but Poland was much more than that. We got to see a very resilient and interesting country, with more than its share of sorrows, but with a strong and healthy culture and people. Coming from Barcelona, we visited the cities of Warsaw, Lublin, and Krakow. We also saw the Nazi death camp in Lublin and the infamous Auschwitz. It was very insightful and educational, and we were better for having seen it. Plus, the Polish food was really spectacular. Definitely worth a visit!
