A Relaxing Experience In Uruguay
January 25 - 27, 2010
Uruguay was the last country we just briefly visited. We came north out of BA into Colonia. We'd planned on heading for the capital, Montevidea, but we ended up spending the night in Colonia, as it was a much nicer place to relax. It definitely had the old-style Spanish feeling to it. From there, we did go to Montevideo, but only to catch a bus on to Mercedes, where we spent a quiet evening. The next day we reentered Argentina, taking a long bus all the way up to Corrientes. I hadn't thought much of Uruguay, but I was surprised about how laid-back and pretty the country is. Its countryside is quaint and mostly farm or grazing land. Apparently it has very nice beaches, though we didn't go to the coast. It was a pleasant surprise to find a modern, carefree little country to pass through.
