A Visit To the Ancient Country Of Nepal
January 2012

We wanted to visit a less advanced country after spending more than a month in Europe, so our next stop was Nepal, a country I've read a lot about and have always wanted to visit. Nepal was an absolutely fascinating country to visit, a place of mystery and culture, as well as very impoverished. It shook our perceptions of the area, and gave us a new perspective on the lives of the people in that region of the world. In some ways, it was like a mini-India, as much of the culture is similar. The highlight of the trip was an 7-day hiking trek in the Annapurna mountain region, climbing from the lakeside city of Pokhara to just below the snowline in the mountains. Along with a great experience in Kathmandu, this proved to be a highlight of the whole trip.
