So I took a few pictures of the bridge and the river, and then I was really in close to the paint, concentrating on the interesting peels around the metal. I was deep into it, really concentrating, when I suddenly heard a distinctly cough. An unmistakeably human cough, right below me, under the bridge. Keep in mind that I'm in the middle of nowhere. There were no other cars where I parked, no other place for people to have stopped. I was immediately very alert, frozen for a moment, thinking. Then I decided that it might be best to walk back to the car. Halfway there, I thought, to hell with that, so I broke and ran like a little girl.
