Once back, we caught another ride across to the little group of houses. There we found that a tall, young Argentinian named David was camping out in front of our hospedaje. He'd been crossing the Andes ON BIKE and unsurprisingly had blown both tires. After dinner, I took a bottle of wine out and we chatted for a long time, until after midnight. He was planning a trip of more than 1000 km, an epic journey I found very inspirational.
