We had quite an adventure getting to the region. Our first goal was just south of Petrohué, the little town of Cochamó. The bus dropped us about 40 km away, with the plan of hitchhiking. We did ok at first, and ended up down the road about 15 km. That was the end of the road for our ride, though, and we couldn't get anyone else to pick us up. There were loads of the huge horseflies called davanos, and with the heat, that idea fizzled quickly. We hitchhiked back, and made our way to the town of Frutillar and paid a lot of to stay in a wonderful hotel.
