As a person trying to capture this on film, I found myself trying to distance myself from the river in order to see the "bigger picture," the ideal frame. Yet I found myself drawn instinctively to it, found my imagination at work building ideas of kingdoms and creatures and of life unexpected that existed only between the frozen walls, the icy swells and bumps.
