There's also the ever-present energy of the water flowing under the ice. As a kid, this was a danger to me as I ventured out onto ice. As a photographer, it was a challenge to capture the movement of the water while maintaining the appearance of the ice. Some of my favorite pictures from this shoot are of the smooth flow of water against the stark rigidity of the ice.
