Maybe that is the mystical part of ice, about how it smooths the rough edges from nature. Ice can be sharp and craggy and viscious, for sure, but it can also be smooth and slick and literally take the edge off of things. Nature is harsh, and the way that ice makes it appear somewhat less harsh while still maintaining itself is a little poetic.
